Peanut Butter Pleasure

8 Peanut Butter Cups That Rival Reese’s

Reese’s is popular but did you know that Harry Reese actually invented the peanut butter cup? Harry was a dairy farmer who worked for Milton Hershey, yes Hershey, Hershey. Harry created the cup in 1928 and used Milton as inspiration. He saw how popular Hershey was and the success that followed so he decided to go off and form his own company. Reese’s was born and the success and current cultural status speak for itself.

I know, Reese’s are American classic treats that seem to be in a world all their own. They are the original inventors of the peanut butter cup and we respect that. As wonderful as they are, the long ingredient list can put off people who want a more natural product. Also, we love variety and options so if you are ready to try something a little different then this list is for you.
Let’s dive into the world of peanut butter cups!

Justin’s

These organic gems are made of quality chocolate that you can tell is the real deal. No chemicals here. The peanut butter is on the drier side but they certainly don’t skimp on filling. It’s indulgent and way better when eaten chilled. If white chocolate isn’t your thing they also come in dark and milk. We love the bag of mini cups that are great for small chocolate cravings or even baking!

Trader Joe’s

Very rich chocolate with a creamy peanut butter filling. Many tasters find this one BETTER than Reese’s as it isn’t grainy and the chocolate is of a higher quality. The small cups and closable packaging means you can grab a little chocolate cup or two anytime the feeling strikes. The container is large so we hope you have some self control.

Chocorite

So these are more like small square patties than cups. They make the list though since shape and size isn’t everything. We need delicious chocolate and peanut butter treats and Chocorite is just that. The layer of peanut butter filling is probably the thickest you will find. It’s very dense and tastes exactly how you expect it to. It’s a buttery peanut butter that almost reminds us of butterfinger bars. Definately not the texture but rather the taste.

Unreal

This one brags about containing less sugar and NO sugar alcohols. We love that it’s simple, good quality, GMO-free, vegan, and made of fair trade ingredients. Peanut butter and chocolate are the stars here and nothing else. It’s smooth, delicious and hits the spot. It’s unreal and you won’t be disappointed. They also have dark chocolate with crispy quinoa if you like a little crunch in your cups. You definately want to give this one a try.

Theo

These gems are organic, fair trade and contain no palm oil. They are flavorful and the chocolate is of good quality. They aren’t greasy like some others you might be familiar with and the filling is smooth. It’s a perfect peanut butter cup that also comes in dark chocolate.

Lily’s

This one gets mixed reviews with about 50% loving it and 50% not. The biggest complaint is the peanut butter filling wasn’t as tasty as expected. These seem to be more of a “diet” option so that might be why. They come in both milk and dark chocolate. It’s really nice that they are individually wrapped so you won’t need to worry if you just feel like having one cup.

Boyer

Butterscotch coated peanut butter cups. YESS! This is insane and we are here for it! These are rich, sweet, butterscotch and peanut butter heaven. There is a heavy caramel taste and the peanut butter filling is on the drier side. Try putting them in the freezer and enjoying them later. They are brought to you by the same company that makes Mallow cups.

Newman’s Own

High-quality chocolate that melts in your mouth with a genuine peanut butter filling. The only bad thing is that the peanut butter filling seems a bit small but only because it’s so good that we want more of it. They are organic and each package comes with 3 cups! Bonus points since it’s organic.
